King Edwards VII School, Sheffield (Brand-Rex Cat6Plus System)

A £28m redevelopment of this Grade II listed building, Eurocoms were chosen to install the ICT infrastructure; this included Brand-Rex Category 6 cabling for the information outlets and Brand-Rex 12 core OM3 fibre for the ICT backbone.

Eurocoms project management team had to plan the installation carefully as the overall programme was phased and some areas of the School remained live throughout the project. This meant the location of the server room and hub rooms had to be carefully planned and the install executed in such a way, that the existing network continued to operate before scheduled switch-overs.

Result: The School now has a warranted ICT infrastructure capable of supporting 1Gbps data transfer rates. Cat6Plus is the Brand-Rex premium performance Class E / Category 6 structured cabling system. It is one of the best performing Category 6 / Class E cabling solution on the market today. Cat6Plus provides
a stable and reliable platform to run LAN applications up to Gigabit speeds, distribute video and support PoE.

Eurocoms were awarded the copper infrastructure cabling as part of a £40m new build data centre project.

The customer required a solution that was innovative and market leading and in addition, something that was fast to install. The RapidNet system by Hellermanntyton, which is virtually risk free and can save up to 85% on installation time was deployed. Eurocoms installed over 4,000 cabinet links within the data centre and terminated over 6,000 Hellermanntyton single mode

Result: The Deca10 cable uses an ‘S’ Foil shielding system which insulates the pairs from each other. This provides 360° shielding and eliminates alien crosstalk. The data centre has a true warranted 10GB performance network.

Virgin Racing, Sheffield (Excel Cat6 Screened UTP System)

The need for new purpose-built premises was of a high priority for the new Formula 1 team.

An experienced contractor was needed to manage the installation of the infrastructure required, so that the new building could operate effectively. Established in 2001, Eurocoms is a company specialising in the installation of cable based infrastructures for a wide variety of systems.

The breadth of products in the Excel range enabled Eurocoms to carry out the entire project using Excel products. The chosen technology was Excel Cat 6 S/UTP cable. The backbone to the installation was Excel 24 core 50/125 OM3 fibre cable.

When installed by an official Excel Cabling Partner (ECP), the Excel system comes with a 25 year product and application warranty. Many of the products have also been independently verified by 3rd party test laboratories, such as Delta and ETL, to ensure that a product or a set of products comply with a particular performance standard.
